Grasshopper strives to empower your student to communicate with confidence! We join your child at their level and challenge them to their personal best. Our caring and compassionate educators see each student as individual learners where they are encouraged and challenged. We view each family as a team with open communication between student, parent and educator. We are on your team! The end result is confidence that translates to better grades in school and success in life!

“The teachers were very encouraging to the kids to help them with different types of writing: from poems, a play, a news article, and a story. There were games to make writing interesting and keep the kid’s attention. Even though the class was three hours long, our child did not mind the length but really enjoyed the entire time. One thing I liked was the summary emails sent to parents after every class during the week to keep parents informed. Would highly recommend to those interested in learning the different types of writing and writing in general” Parent, Writing The Right Way Virtual Camp

Aspiring Authors

Ages: 8 – 14

Write, Illustrate and Create Your Own Book!

Using a unique two brain approach students will be inspired to write and “publish” their own book. This is a fun and challenging adventure where each student will be an author, editor, and artist “hired” by the publishing company to create their masterpieces. Students will learn how to use the elements of story building, revision to “make the pictures clearer”, and editing to captivate their readers through the written word and then enhance their illustrations to make their words come alive.

This course includes engaging video instruction combined with fun LIVE interactive sessions in community with encouraging instructors and peers. We will participate in activities and share/respond throughout the creative development process, as well as receive editing of each author’s story by our professional educators before they finish their final draft for print. This is a great course to spend tons of independent time creating your very own amazing content and brilliant illustrations during the long summer days.

An Aspiring Writer’s Virtual Adventure!

Through fun, inspiring and challenging activities writers will explore the worlds of authors, journalists, poets and more. They will learn the elements of story building and reporting and how to critically look at their work to create mesmerizing, memorable stories, articles and other written communication which will captivate readers and get their message heard.

Writing, teamwork, games, challenges, and FUN! Same great coaches as our in-person camps, but with creative adaptation to an online format which promises to get campers thinking, creating, and moving on and off the screen. Effective written communication is an essential life tool for success in school, leadership and life!

This 1-week camp meets for 3 hours each day online. But 3 hours glued to a screen is not an option for our campers! Each day will include a combination of fun videos, a live virtual community where campers will participate in lessons, activities (on and off screens), various writing options and challenges both individually and in teams (inside and out!). They will earn points, create and team-build as they encourage each other throughout the week. Some activities may require extended time outside of the camp hours where they made need to venture outdoors and indoors to complete writing pieces and fun experiences. Camp will culminate with a presentation of completion and author readings.

Authors will learn more tricks to great writing and master their editing skills. Once their masterpiece is transformed, the authors will learn the process of contacting a real publisher and submitting their magnificent manuscript.

This course includes engaging video instruction combined with fun LIVE interactive sessions in community with encouraging instructors and peers. We will participate in activities and share/respond throughout the creative development process. This is a great course to spend in class and independent time creating your very own amazing content and brilliant illustrations.
